May Author Events - Caroline Fernandez

Dear Gentle Reader, (as lady whistledown would write)...

I have had a flurry of author events in the past month. It's been a whirlwind of meeting kids, signing books, and a slight bit of public speaking anxiety on my part.

THE BOOKSHELF, Guelph, ON.

I had the honour of being invited to The Bookshelf (it's a bookstore) in Guelph, ON for their Forest of Reading mini-festival to present PLAGUE THIEVES. This was especially neat because PLAGUE THIEVES wasn't even out yet! I did three presentations to several schools on field trip to the event. Boy, the kids had some great comments and questions! My publisher Cormorant Books special-sent a box of books specifically for the event (and they completely sold out!).

The Girl Guides of Ontario - Girl Jam, Toronto, ON

Imagine 5000 people rotating throughThe Better Living Centre in Toronto for a girl guide jamboree! It was a daunting day for an introvert like me. I was honoured to present the STEM aspect of PLAGUE THIEVES and the ASHA AND BAZ series to anyone who would stop by my booth to listen. Apparently, quite a few girl guide leaders were teachers and librarians - thus had special interest in Women in STEM books for their schools and classrooms.

Authors' Booking Service Group Book Launch, Toronto, ON

This author loves a good group book launch. It takes the pressure off being in the spotlight and wondering if you are going to be sitting alone at a table in a bookstore. We had a great turn out for the Authors' Booking Service Group Book Launch where 7 members (me included obvs) launched their spring books. ASHA AND BAZ MEET KATIA KRAFFT and PLAGUE THIEVES are now officially out in the world.
